General queries regarding Online Instructor Led Courses

How do I ask queries regarding the course? |
To ask or discuss a query, “Discussion" areas have been created in the online classrooms. (One discussion area for each lesson). You can post your query in the respective Discussion area. Your Course Instructor will post a response to your query within one business day.
To reach a Discussion area, wait for the course to begin, login to your online classroom, and click the “Discussion” tab from the Classroom Menu.
To preserve your privacy, please feel free to identify yourself only by the first name or with a nickname when posting your questions. The discussion area will be open to you 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

What are the payment options for paying the Course fee? |
Payments for various courses may be made through
MasterCard, VISA, or American Express card.

Is it safe to use credit cards on the ExpertRating website to purchase the Online Instructor Led courses? |
ExpertRating uses Worldpay as its transaction processor. WorldPay is a division of the Royal Bank of Scotland and is one of the most reliable and reputed credit card transaction processors in the world. Moreover, the payment information is transferred over SSL technology that ensures that it cannot be decrypted during transmission. ExpertRating does not store any credit card information on file.

What do I do in case I forget my password? |

How do I enter my 'online classroom'? |
It is very easy to reach the online classroom. Kindly follow the given steps:
• Wait until noon (Eastern Standard Time) on the start date of the course.
• After the course begins, logon to the ExpertRating Online Instruction Center at any time of the day that is convenient for you and click the Classroom link.
• Finally, Log in with your username and password to access your Classroom
You would need to go to this classroom to obtain your lessons, work through tutorials, take quizzes, complete assignments, participate in discussions and ask questions to your instructor.

How do I obtain my assignments, take quizzes and learn lessons? |
Our Courses are completely online. You would just have to enter your Classroom to take quizzes, learn lessons and obtain assignments.

Course duration and dates

How long are the ExpertRating Online Instructor Led Courses? |
Mostly, all the Instructor Led Courses run for six weeks. You will be granted access to two lessons each week for six weeks. Each lesson will be accompanied by a short, multiple –choice quiz and some lessons may also include a hands on assignment. You are expected to try and complete each quiz assignment within two weeks from when the lesson is released. The course will end with a final exam on the scheduled date. You will have two weeks from the day when final exam is released to complete your studies and submit the final exam for evaluation.

How to enroll

Do I need to buy any books for the course? |
It is not mandatory to buy books for the courses. All the notes, lessons and assignments would be provided in the online Classroom. But, in case, any book has been mentioned, it is highly suggested to purchase it as it will be of great help during the course.

I am unable to access a lesson. What should I do? |
Wait till the release date (Noon - EST) of the Lesson you want to access. The lessons would be available once they are released. Each lesson would be available for two weeks, twenty four hours a day and seven days a week from the release date of the lesson. In case you are unable to access any lessons, it means they are not open yet and would be available on the mentioned release date.

How do I submit my assignment? |
Assignments are not supposed to be submitted. Assignments are for your own understanding and are not a part of final evaluation. However, completing your assignments is highly recommended for your own clarity. We have quizzes for each lesson on which you get scored. Therefore, giving you a fair idea of how much you know regarding the lesson.

How do I enroll myself in the course I am interested in? |

• Log on to the ExpertRating Online Instructor Center
• To Select a course of your choice, you can either directly type the name of the course you want to enroll yourself in the "Search for Courses" box and select the desired Course from the choices provided; Or click on the"More..." link under the section “Featured Departments”
• A whole list of course departments would be displayed in front of you. Hovering your mouse on a Department’s link displays more information about its constituent courses.
• Click on the Course Department Link in which you are interested.
• A Catalog of all the courses (along with their respective price, Instructor’s name, a small description and Class start dates) under the chosen Department is displayed. Go through the list of courses and Click on the desired course’s Link, in which you want to enroll. The heading of each paragraph itself is the link for the respective course. You may also click the more link to know more about the course you are interested in.
• On the Description page of your chosen course, detailed information of the course is available which including the course requirements, course syllabus and the profile of the course instructor.
• If you fulfill the course requirements, click on the “Enroll Now” button.
• Select the Start Date of the desired course from the “Sign Up For a Course” wizard and click the Continue button.
• On the next page, you would be asked to fill your email id and password. In case, you do not hold an account with us, you would be required to create one. (All the steps are mentioned on this page).
• After filling in your email and password, click on the Continue button.
• On this page, you would purchase the course by filling in your payment details.
• The receipt would be provided to you instantly after the payment procedure is complete.

Extensions and Delays
|
How do I get an extension? |
We already grant a two week grace period for each of the quizzes and lessons, so that you have ample time for detailed study. You can read each lesson at your leisure, and complete each assignment when it is convenient to you. Our online course is designed to fit your schedule and not your instructor’s!
If you still fall behind, a ten day extension period can be given to you at the end of the course. You are not required to attach any reason to your extension request, but we can grant not more than one extension per course. You would be given instructions on how to request an extension when your course begins on the Help page.

Instructor and Course administrator related queries

Is the instructor going to be online all the time? |
The instructor would not be online all the time. You can ask your queries to the instructor and he would be happy to answer all of them. Please understand that it might take the course instructor one business day to reply back.

How do I contact the course administrator? |
To contact the course administrator, look for the ‘Please click here for personal issues unrelated to the lesson’ in the paragraph that appears at the top of each of the discussion areas. The ‘click here’ Link takes you to a form which you can use to obtain answers to any questions you might have.

At what time and according to which time zone should I login to my account to access my courseware and communicate with the Instructor? |
Lessons are released by 12.00 noon (Eastern Standard Time) on the specified release dates. The instructor is never online. You can interact with him or her through discussion boards. You are also not required to be online at a specified time.

Should I reveal personal information in e- mails sent by the course administrator or instructor? |
A legitimate organization would never send you an unsolicited e-mail that contains an attachment or asks for personal information. If you ever receive an unsolicited e-mail that contains an attachment or asks for personal information, delete the email immediately.

How do I log out of the classroom when I have finished studying? |
Our classroom log out process is fully automated. You would be logged out of the classroom automatically whenever you close your browser or shut down your computer.

Assignment related queries

How do I submit my assignment? |
Assignments are not supposed to be submitted. Assignments are for your own understanding and are not a part of final evaluation. Are the lessons scheduled at certain times of the day or are they prerecorded and you can access them at any time. It shows on your web site that the lessons are released on Wednesday and Friday. Do you have to log in at a certain time on those days are can you access them any time that week after the original air time? |

You are also not required to be online at a specified time. The lessons are enabled automatically on the specified dates, and can be accessed anytime by logging in to the account.

Where can the coding manual be purchased (CPT manual and the ICD-9-CM manual)? |
These books can be purchased from the following locations: Half.com, Ebay.com, Alibris.com, abebooks.com, chegg.com (you can rent or buy here).
You'll need access to both of the main medical coding books which will be used in this course:
2007, 2008 or 2009 CPT manual, Professional Edition
2007, 2008 or 2009 ICD-9-CM, Physician Edition
The spiral-bound editions are recommended for both books. The course works equally well for all three years of the books.

May I respond to other students' discussion area questions? |
Yes, responding and interacting in the discussion area would be of great help to you. It will increase your knowledge on the subject. You would definitely benefit by interacting with your classmates. But, it is important to be precise and relevant in your discussions. Please understand that the discussion area is reserved for conversations about the material in your lessons. While it is perfectly acceptable to use a bit of friendly banter with your fellow mates, but the topic of discussion should not digress. It should also be made sure that no derogatory, controversial, racist or insulting remark is posted by you.
